MSHA Part 48B New Miner Training

Class Description:
A 24-hour course required under 30 CFR Part 48, Subpart B before any new employee can work independently at a surface mine or the surface area of an underground mine. Delivered across three days, the course opens with a minimum 8 hours of instruction before any work assignment, then covers statutory miner rights, self-rescue and respiratory devices, transportation and communication procedures, a mine tour, emergency escape and evacuation, ground control, health hazard monitoring, electrical safety, first aid, explosives awareness (where applicable), and task-specific safety instruction.
